Have You Heard Of Microshading?
We often go to extraordinary lengths to perfect our beauty regimes, spending hours being sucked into black holes of endless YouTube and TikTok videos to find the perfect treatment.
You'll likely have come across microblading while bingeing on hours of beauty tips and hacks, the semi-permanent treatment that is the most effective way of maintaining a perfectly precise eyebrow arch whiteout out having to fill in your brows with a pencil every morning.
However, you might not be aware of microshading, the softer, sister technique that everyone is talking about at the moment. Here’s all you need to know!
What is microshading?
Microblading is performed by tattooing super-fine featherweight strokes on the epidermis of the skin, producing the impression of natural brow hairs.
Microshading is similar, but instead of the needles producing a hair stroke effect, they penetrate further into the skin and leave teeny-tiny dots of pigment throughout the brow. The overall effect creates a shadow or gradient appearance, almost as if you have filled in your brows with a powder.
Much like microblading, the initial post-appointment colour can appear pretty dark, but after a few weeks, it fades into a more subtle shade.
So what are the benefits?
Microshading is said to be better for people with sensitive skin or oily skin because the technique takes better to their skin type.
Experts claim that the treatment also lasts longer, and while the effects of microblading can last between one to two years, the effects of microshading can last up to four years.
If you’re not sure which treatment is right for you, it can be possible to get a combination of both, with the front of the brow micro bladed with stronger hair stroked, and the tail microshaded to get the gradient effect.
