How To Choose The Right Hair Colour For You
Nothing can transform your look quite so dramatically and easily as changing your hair colour! However, choosing the right hair dye can seem a little overwhelming, especially if you have never taken the plunge before. There are hundreds of shades on offer, so there’s going to be at least a few that are the perfect match. Here are a few tips to help you decide.
1. Check what skin tone you have
You don’t want to create a clash in tone between your hair and skin colour, unless you are very bold and enjoy rocking an edgy look! Generally though, most people look best when their hair and skin colour
works in harmony.
If your skin has a warm undertone, such as olive, brown, reddish, or yellow hues, then you will suit warmer colours, ranging from honey blonde, all the way to deep chestnut and dark browns. If you have a pale pinkish, blue, or creamy undertone, then you are likely to have a cool skin tone. You will suit ash blonde or cool red shades.
2. See what shades work best with your eye colour
If you are having trouble deciding what your skin tone is, work with your eye colour
instead. If they are predominately blue or green, you are likely to have a cool tone. If they tend towards gold and brown colours, then you will typically have warm skin. Some people naturally have a neutral hue, and will look equally good with a range of colours.
If you are still doubtful about what to go for, it’s best to go no more than two shades darker or lighter than your natural hair colour.
3. Choose your method of colouring
If you choose to have your hair dyed at a professional hair salon, you will have a range of options as to how your hair is treated. This will affect the overall result—for example, you could go for highlights or lowlights, which will give a more subtle and natural look than a block colour.
