How To Protect Your Hair While Blow Drying
With the festive season on the horizon, no doubt our thoughts are starting to turn towards all those fun parties and gatherings to be had (socially distanced this year, of course!) - so knowing how to protect your hair while styling it at home is a wise move if you want it to stay in good condition, looking lovely and luscious over the winter months.
Before you get the hair dryer out, give your locks a gentle towel dry to remove the excess moisture. Being gentle is absolutely key here, as harsh rubbing can cause damage, as well as tangles. If you do come across any tangled areas, tease them out carefully with a wide-tooth comb.
Once you’re ready to use the hairdryer, make sure you don’t hold it too close to your head or you risk damaging your hair. Do the back and sides first (unless you have a fringe), starting with a high speed and temperature, and gradually reducing the heat as your hair dries.
Also consider the kind of brush you’re using, as this can cause damage if you’re not careful. The longer your hair is, the wider your brush should be, so bear this in mind if you get a haircut. You may need to update your brush!
If you want a bit of extra volume from your blow dry, consider flipping your head upside down, gently brushing your hair downwards while following with the dryer. Or you could come and see us at Blush & Blow, a Brentwood blow dry bar, to help you achieve the perfect festive party look.
