The Biggest Makeup Trends This Spring
Spring is a time for new beginnings, new trends and new looks, and 2022 appears to be a year filled with rather more extreme trends and looks than a typical year.
With a focus on playful self-expression, bright colours paired with cool textures, here are some of the biggest makeup trends this spring that will have reverberations throughout the rest of the year.
Explorations Of Self Through Imperfection
Whilst a self-makeup course
traditionally tends to focus on conventional ways to apply makeup looks, one of the biggest trends not only of this season but this year will be the exploration of our internal fears, anxieties and anger using our own bodies as the medium.
This means an abandoning of perfection, symmetry, the golden ratio
and more subtle colours schemes in favour of a more artistic approach to makeup, with asymmetrical designs, bursts of bright colours and colour outside of its usual restrictive locations, such as using eyeliner over the eyelids.
Skincare Makeup
The last few years have seen experimentations not only with makeup styles but also skincare routines, and with many people practising a form of skinimalism, it makes perfect sense to use a makeup product that also provides skincare benefits.
Tinted sunscreens, peptide-enhancing eyeliners and moisturising lip glosses are just a few of the examples of skincare makeup and the trend is making its way into every type of makeup imaginable.
Iridescent Makeup
An increasingly popular and dynamic look, iridescent makeup appears to change colour or shimmer with an almost rainbow-like effect.
It naturally is perfect to use with more dramatic looks, but can also be used to tremendous effect with a more minimalist look, particularly to frame the eyes.
In terms of products, using rhinestones, a holographic eyeshadow topper or very small amounts of glitter can add an extra bit of sparkle to any look.
